This was one of life’s disappointments. Not Liverpool – love the place, but my first roll of Ilford Delta 400. I use HP5 a lot and got a few rolls for Delta 400 expecting a smoother, less grainy image. Developed in fresh Ilfosol 3, the negatives were a bit grainy.. a bit murky. They took a bit of faffing about during scanning and then in Lightroom to get to a point where I was less unhappy – and of course, it may have been user error but I developed the roll as per datasheet as I usually do with Ilford film. It was a dullish day and I also shot a roll of HP5 a few hours later when it was a bit duller. Here’s some of the 24 exp roll.
This was not what I was expecting. I thought Delta would give me more of a smoother and less contrasty look. It was probably me. I’ve some more rolls (120) so I’ll give it another go, and use Bellini Euro (HC110) which has given me more pleasing results with every film I’ve tried. Still love Liverpool, though.
