Lycabettus Hill is the highest point in Athens. It has a wee church, a flag and great views of the city.

There’s also an (expensive) bar

Getting there involves a Metro (line 3) to Evangelismos and a 30 minute walk. In the summer heat. Up many, many steps.

The last bit is by funicular and there’s a wee cafe.

Going up around midday in 35 degrees heat maybe isn’t the best time to do Lycabettus – in cooler weather I would’ve walked the last bit and passed on the funicular. Honest.
