The two-day slow-boat Up-the-Mekong trip – here – has a stopover in the small village in Pakbeng. It’s a small village, you arrive just before the sun starts to drop, and you leave in the morning straight after breakfast. And a shower is a good idea on arrival after a long day on the river. So there’s just enough time around dinner, sleeping and breakfast to take a few photos.
It is possible to stay a day longer, get the next boat and do some hiking in the area.
